An Italian story with an Italian soul. A brand that since 1927 has been offering an authentic experience in terms of the quality, creativity, colourful originality and simple elegance of its high-end accessories, for a large customer base. One of the major players in the leather goods market and currently present in more than 100 countries, Furla has identified the need for a re-think of its digital catalogue, with the ultimate aim of optimising and enhancing the customer journey, in an omnichannel experience.
Goals and
needs
The Furla transformation plan began to take shape five years ago, when the need to combine the retail experience with a digital experience prompted the creation of a Salesforce e-Commerce platform able to successfully achieve a smoother management of both pre- and post-sales processes, while at the same time guaranteeing the customer’s unique vision. Since then, the brand has identified new strategic fronts, resulting in the introduction of new product categories, the geographical expansion of sales and the enrichment of the brand’s digital channels, from which a further requirement has emerged more recently: the need to provide specialised product information.
With this in mind, Furla has expressed the desire to replace its PIM system with a new solution able to:
- Differentiate and evenly distribute product information and images across the various languages and sales channels;
- Highlight the level of completion of the product information;
- Build knowledge of processes on the system and share it at corporate level;
- Streamline daily operating activities across different teams, to boost efficiency.
Approach and
Solutions
The project roadmap envisaged a carefully constructed assessment and co-design phase, supported by a rigorous software selection process, which identified the Akeneo PIM. solution as suitable for the business requirements.
The mapping of the as-is product information and process and their subsequent development have made it possible to optimise performance and support the volume of product attributes, so that the information can be referred across the different channels and offer quality regardless of the platform.
Akeneo PIM has become the main point of reference for the information on the 80,000 products structured and distributed across some 15 product families, for the whole Furla company. The attributes can be configured to correspond to the purchasing experience and the data required for the various channels, locations and combinations thereof.
The new Akeneo PIM system has clearly boosted the company’s efficiency and competitiveness on the market, in terms of both processes and organising people.
Alpenite’s transversal skills enabled the prompt definition and development of a strategic plan with a long-term vision. In addition, the work team’s expertise enabled an effective combination of the PIM system with Furla’s IT infrastructure, integrating with and adapting to the existing platforms, such as the e-commerce platform and product syndication tools. The lasting, effective support provided throughout all stages of the project has assisted Furla in its complete digitalisation processes.
